Setting High Standards
Impact on the Organization
What is more important? Quality or meeting production goals?
Can there ever be a balance between them? Not only can there
be, but there should be. For a company to maintain a competitive
edge, it must set and meet production goals, while maintaining
product quality. Giving employees the tools to help set production
goals, and empowering them so that they feel a part of a company’s
goals is a key element to sustaining an organization’s
standards, and then exceeding them. An imbalance weighted too
much to either quality, which sacrifices production goals, or
to meeting production goals at all costs, can negatively influence
an organization’s bottom line.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the process for setting production goals.
- Determine
how you affect meeting both production and quality goals.
- Develop suggestions for improving the manufacturing process,
or productivity/output of your line/product in order to meet
customer needs.
Program Description
During this module participants are shown why production goals
are important, how they relate to quality, how they relate to
staying competitive and how each participant plays a role in
keeping those goals. Participants discuss factors that affect
production goals, such as materials or overhead, and how production
goals play a part in day-to-day operations. Participants also
have the opportunity to look at what makes them want to be more
involved in meeting production goals. The paradigm of quality
versus production goals is introduced, as is the concept of tracking
production goals to evaluate the results of production decisions.
Finally, participants look at a production problem at their location
and come up with potential solutions.
Time Investment
Typically 4 hours.
