Have you ever experienced the effect of poor or no communication on your own job performance?  Imagine that same effect multiplied by the number of employees in your organization and you begin to realize the importance of professional communication skills.  Successful organizations need leaders who know how to lead, direct, support and coach employees to perform at their best.  Communication Essentials assesses individual skills and teaches leaders the critical tools to be more effective communicators.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify individual communication issues and problems using  the Communication Effectiveness Profile.
  • Develop ways of sending clear messages.
  • Improve non-verbal communication techniques and understand their importance to the clarity of messages.
  • Identify a variety of Active Listening techniques and use them in a skill practice. 
  • Recognize the three essentials for giving feedback.
  • Develop a Communication Action Plan.

Program Description

This workshop provides participants with a better understanding of the skills required to communicate effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to assess their specific strengths and opportunities for improvement, and practice the skills that will enable them to be better communicators.

Once participants know where their strengths lie, the workshop reviews how to send clear messages, non-verbal communication, active listening, and giving and receiving feedback.  Participants learn tools to improve weak areas, and then develop a communication action plan to assist them in making the changes needed to be more effective.
